Prior to Red Nose Day 2011 Dancemania received a phone call from Her Majesty’s Royal Air Force, SATT Development Flight (SDF), RAF Halton. They had an urgent requirement for Red Poms … lots of them.
The Red Poms were being used by Servicemen Awaiting Trade Training (SATT), at SATT Development Flight (SDF), RAF Halton. They have all completed their 9 weeks Recruit Training, and are at SDF for further development. They give displays in precision military drill to schools, communities and in support of charity, to the sound of modern pop music, such as Lady Gaga. On this occasion they gave a display to Military Personnel based at RAF Halton, to the tune Lady Marmalade by Christina Aguilera. The display team raised an impressive £240 from this event alone, but more displays are being given so if you get a chance go along and see some impressive pom skills done by the numbers.
They will be conducting regular community and charity displays, and will also be doing some Pom Pom spinning classes for Charity, this will consist of aerobic spinning sessions on the spinning bike, but also doing Pom Pom aerobics at the same time.. a bit of high school musical on the bike.
A big thank you to Sgt Ellen Wileen (HAL-SDF Welfare SNCO) for coordinating and especially for keeping us up to date with news and most importantly for the photos.
Gurkhas have their Kukri, commandos have their dagger and now the SDF have their red poms …aggressors to this realm beware!!
